Recently the Batman series’ latest issue “Streets of Gotham” Volume 12 has had a lot of issues. But, in spite of these off the scene issues the latest from the Batman series is fairly entertaining. Dini, Fridolfs and Nguyen succeed in giving us a great experience, thanks largely to Carpenter. The carpenter portrays a villain and is perfect for exploration and that is what they have given as she gets solo and inks a deal with a new client.

Hellcyon Vol. 1
Hellcyon is the latest offering of Lucas Marangon and at the first glance it definitely looks impressive. However, a more detailed and closer inspection tells a different story altogether. It isn’t as neat as it seemed when you just skim across it.
Marangon definitely has potential and does show some flashes of brilliance. It seems he draws inspiration from several quarters and his style reminds of Otomo’s “Akira” and at the same time it also seems to be influenced by the early school of Ladronn.

Dark Wolverine Vol. 85
This issue of the “Dark Wolverine” may appear similar to “Siege” and “Wolverine Origin” to some readers. However, as they carry on with this issue, they would realize that it is far more interesting than what its frequently used title may suggest. Romulus plays the role of a villain in this Marvel adventure and seems very spotty.

Black Terror Vol.9
The initial five issues of Black Terror had Jim Krueger taking charge of the scripts and Mike Lily handling the artwork. However, the duo of Phil Hester and Alex Ross who have taken over since seem to do a far better job in this thrilling series. The issue is filled with some great action that has been projected beautifully by the writer. The well crafted airbrush illustrations make it a really dramatic issue filled with some swirling action. Readers may have some complaints about the choice of the colors but they do manage to make the story look lively.

Black Widow Vol.1
The release of the film “X-Men” by Marvel a decade ago has created a huge demand for its comics among the moviegoers. The publishers though could not keep up with the demands of its fans at that time. Marvel has found the way to market its characters in the most efficient way which can be evident from the release of the first issue of the series “Black Widow”.

Siege: Young Avengers Vol.1
Although the series “Young Avengers” only had twelve issues and a special one, it is interesting to know that it also has had 19 interim mini- series. Marvel probably keeps popping out these issues to engage the readers with Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung’s creations till the time they find a new creative team.

Fables: Deluxe Edition, Vol.1
Fables have been a very intriguing comic series since it came into the scene in 2002. For those who have missed its earlier issue, there is a great chance for them to get their hands on the reprint which was recently released by Vertigo. The Deluxe Edition is the collection of starting 10 issues of the series. Fables which have been the most acclaimed series of the writer Bill Willingham is one of his favorite creations. It is a great mix of a tale of fairy adventure, fantasy, politics and satire.
