DSI Comedy Theater Crowns Carolina’s Funniest Comic 2011

This April and May, DSI Comedy Theater set out in order to find the funniest comic in North Carolina during the fourth annualCarolina’s Funniest Competition. Last week, the theater actually found its winner in a stand-up comedy first timer.

After the showcase of their best work for about 15 minutes at the DSI Comedy Theater,Chapel Hill’s Brad Schnurr was declared the winner in the house packed theater. Schnurr won $1000 and a slot in the 2012 North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival. On the second position came Sherlonda Clarke from Raleigh.

After the last month attempt by regular writer Jeff Lemire and guest artist Marco Rudy, which seemed little off track, this time the team is back in action and in good form as well. In fact, it’s nice to see the pair show their actual capability despite restrictions of someone else’s story.

In this issue writer Jeff Lemire takes Superboy to space along with the new emerging character Psionic Lad. The story revolves around the investigation of the spaceship and the finding there on.

The script is smartly written. And despite the fact that all the characters are not included in the issue, the story turned out well.

KUNG FU PANDA: #1

1303087533_cvr The first issue of Kung Fu Panda proved to be a great stimulator for its fans who thoroughly enjoyed its comic timings. In addition, the timing of the launch was also well appropriate.

Published by Ape Entertainment, this comic book became a hit with everyone, especially with the children. The story was really good and it has multiple adventure plots. And this is the best part of the book, as it was not confined to one continuous plot throughout. The adventures expanded and contracted the world of Po and the Furious Five.

Moreover, the development of the characters and the plot around Kung Fu Panda is also interesting.
