House of Mystery

The Volume 15 of the House of Mystery was brilliantly written by Matthew Sturges and Bill Willingham, which really changed the course that the overall story was taking. This issue revealed a lot about the characters to the readers and disturbed the status quo to almost turn the story upside down. However, the 16th issue was a big let down. This may have been due to the attempt of the writers to slow down the pace of the story after having shelled too much information in the previous issue.

The story almost crawls in this issue and the only saving grace is the artwork of Luca Rossi which is simply amazing. The present structure of the House of Mystery has been displayed tremendously by the artist through a great detailing. Although the story seemed to have lost pace, you can read it to find out what happens to a couple who gets trapped in a house and the mystifying guardians who them alive.

The story of Bill Willingham and Richard Corben brings about the feel of old fashioned horror collection. The bleak and creepy 10 pages have a vintage look and Corben’s story together with Lee Loughridge’s colors make just the right combination that sear itself in your brain. The overall story though is very promising and the present issue has all the leads that are indicative that the next edition would be a treat for the action lovers. So, as readers you can expect a lot of fireworks in the next edition.
