“City of Dust” is a five-issue miniseries by Steve Niles who is well known for his horror comics. However, this also happens to be his first attempt at sci-fi comics. It has been published by Radical Comics and narrates Steve’s vision of unexpected future with supernatural monsters.
The leading character of “City of Dust” is detective Philip Khrome who is a very responsible and law abiding cop. The city has automated police work which works on sensors and crimes are solved rather easily.
However, the problem arises when cops who are not very good in real detective work fail to solve the strange and supernatural things that begin to happen. The task of law enforcement is subsequently handed over to the robots which results in the degradation of the police force. Niles also hopes to make the story different from other works of fiction.
Khrome has the task of dealing with the supernatural threat. However, it is difficult to understand as to what inspires the antagonist of the story for his crimes when there is no superstition in the city. The relationship between Radical and Imaginary Friends studio has really helped Niles who was thrilled and excited at their help in making the issue. Radical is also planning a cross-platform potential for “City of Dust” and Niles admitted that they were even considering making a movie and wanted him to create more of such detective stories. The issue published by radical comics will be up for sale from next week.
