Shang Chi Master of Kung Fu Vol

Marvel comics has come up with a unique way of enlightening you with Shang Chi, the Mater of Kung Fu. The first issue of the book reminds you of the popular Marvel characters of the 70s and has a black and white print which is quite rare these days. Jonathan Hickman has done an admirable job with the story which is incredible fun in spite of the unusual match up between Shang Chi and Deadpool.

The story line which has Shang Chi and Deadpool riding their bikes across the country and fighting the Hitler Twins is surely very hilarious. The other two stories of the book have more of the traditional martial arts action. Mike Benson together with the artwork of Tom Coker has done a commendable job and has managed to make the Kung Fu fights seem like reality. However, the story does not match up with the craziness of the first story.

The last story of the issue is a combined work of Charlie Huston and Enrique Romero which has Shang Chi fighting his brother M’Nai. This part is reminiscent of the 70s but it would appeal only to those who have had a taste of the comic book from the 70s. The end part of the book has a text piece which is written by Robin Furth and Paul Gulacy. This part perfectly fits with the anthology nature of the issue. Overall, the issue is a good one for the readers and being a unique creation coming from the Marvel Comics it is certainly going to get a lot of support from the readers.
