The story of this new book called the Assault on New Olympus has been picked right up from the latest issue of the Incredible Hercules. Pak and Van Lente have again shown why they are considered as the masters of the recap page. The cover image which has Spider-Man and Hercules is almost certain to arouse the curiosity in most readers who would definitely find the issue a smooth ride. Rodney Buchemi has managed to get the same magic touch in his artwork which he made his forte in the regular Hercules series.
Buchemi’s artwork is reminiscent of Andrea DiVito’s work on “The Thing”. The story of this issue revolves around the confusion between Wallcrawler and the Prince of Power. The Incredible Hulk issue sets the tone of the story which goes up a higher level when Avengers joins the fray. The Zeus’ demise leads the gods to leave Olympus who gear up for battle as Hercules prepares a strike against Hera with a group of Avengers. Hera, on the other hand has quite an interesting agreement with Norman Osborn. The story, however gives one the impression of being immersed in the Dark Reign as does the entire Marvel Universe.
The most interesting thing about this issue which is going to woo the readers a great deal is the story in the issue featuring the Agents of Atlas. The story is set in a way that it comes across Hercules as it moves along. Overall, the stories of the issue definitely justify the price tag of $3.99 set by Marvel comics.
