The matchup of Aliens vs. Predator was first made available by Dark Horse comics more than two decades ago. It has since been remembered a couple of times and you may also have come across some movies made on this concept. With the possibility of a movie looming large, Dark Horse has decided to relive the clash between these gigantic species. The book in spite of the combined genius of Rick Leonardi and Randy Stradely fails to induce any sort of excitement to the readers.
The suspense which was apparent in the initial issue seems to be lacking in the subsequent issues that have come up over the years. This issue is concerned with the legends of the predators. The predator in this issue wears samurai like armor and focuses more on the kill than in the thrill of hunting. The predator of this issue fails to give a fright and the fact that he has Aliens with him seems rather surprising. The artwork of Leonardi is quite appreciable if you take the whole story into account but does not do much justice to the current issue.
The color work of Dzioba also leaves a lot to be desired. The story has a wonderful plot which would certainly set the future issues alive. Readers can expect some great action between these two species. The series may prove a great comeback for the matchup. Raymond Swanland has also done a fair job with the cover of this issue. Overall, the issue which is available at $3.50 sets up the story beautifully for the upcoming action.
