The 30 Days of Night is a comic series of three short stories and each story of the series has enough reason to shake one up with the horrible and fearful stories. The line of horror comics has very well been represented and even brought to a new level by this comic series for which one must praise the great works done by a team of creative and enthusiastic people. The team is led by Steve Niles, the writer and some other indispensable person like Ben Templesmith responsible for ornamenting the comic with inside art, Ashley Wood for the brilliant cover work, Robbie Robbins for letters and design and the IDW Publishing for publishing the comic series.

The story of the comic 30 Days Of Night is one of most thrilling and scary that focuses on the vampires and their cruel operations of eating mankind in a small town of Alaska, named as Barrow and is based in the northernmost part of the state. The town faces a one month, i.e., a 30 days period of no sun rise during November 18th to December 17th and the temperature too remains below the freezing condition.

It is at this time that the protagonist of the story Sheriff Eben Olemaun and his wife Stella finds that all means of communication like their mobile phone are being stolen and destroyed and some mysterious kind of people seen demanding for raw meat. These unknown people are then discovered as vampires by them who started destroying the city by eating up its people uninterrupted by any outer force. As Eben and Stella have no means to come into contact with the outer world, they have to fight back to the vampires. The comic further contains a thrilling and interesting story on Eben’s fight with the vampires for saving his wife and his town.

The story of the comic is truly breathtaking with a scary situation being created by the excellent artwork of Templesmith.

Released on September 28th, 2011, Voodoo #1 Comic has been scripted by Ron Marz. On the other hand, Sami Basri gets the credit for the art design and cover design of this new comic. Jessica Kholinne has filled the colors in it and Jared K. Fletcher has lettered it.

Voodoo #1 Comic is considered to be the last and the third new DC Wildstorm books that has been launched after Grifter and Stormwatch. Although, Voodoo #1 Comic bears not a direct relation to the previous Wildstorm versions, it tries to make the Wildstorm characters fit into the DCU.

The story is being told in a way that begins a mini series of stories to be unfolded in the coming time. Most of the issues, in the first two series that are out in the market, deals with life of John Constantine- the lead character.

In fact, readers are really excited with the idea of being able to see more creative art of Sean Murphy in the next few months. Readers have already seen Murphy’s earlier work on Constantine in the 2008 and they simply loved it. Now with the arrival of the latest series of Hellblazer, their excitement is seeing no bounds.

The way Murphy portrays the face of Constantine and his character is liked by one and all. The elements of charisma and shadows of the evil eyes depicted are with great attitude.

The latest 2 issues of the ‘City of Demons’ are the most entertaining ones created by Si Spencer and Sean Murphy. The story ends with a note to bring the best of everything in the coming four issues in the series. The cover for the series is also designed by Sean Murphy, whereas the color and letters for the issue is done by Dave Stewart and Sal Cipriano respectively.

The reactions shown in particular situations were portrayed and narrated aptly. Vertigo, the publishers of the series is looking forward to an interesting season with Hellblazer: City of Demons.

Prison Pit Two starts with a real dark shade and gradually moves away to unveil the dark side, which gets clearer as we move ahead. It projects a monstrous as well as humanoid creature which demands other creatures to clean him using their mouth. It is a unique way to begin a book in such a shocking manner and it’s kind of funny that the readers instantly know what is in store for them.

If you decide to move ahead you get exactly what you had expected, you witness violence of the most horrific nature, language which is as obscene as it could get and situations that savagely absurd. There is no attempt to make a dark book slightly light and this is the best part about this book. It is true to the concept and takes a very honest and harsh look at the dark world. This is what makes this book such an entertainer.

This book is a continuation of the previous book which came out last year and acts as the platform for this issue. A couple of chapters are dedicated to form a connection between the two issues and thereafter it is all about action and violence. The action and violence is relentless, keeping the interest levels high.

Johnny Ryan manages to maintain a consistently booming speed of the story and the artwork compliments it perfectly. It is truly a perfect action thriller and a great read. For all those who love action books that has a lot of violence this is just perfect.

The initial five issues of Black Terror had Jim Krueger taking charge of the scripts and Mike Lily handling the artwork. However, the duo of Phil Hester and Alex Ross who have taken over since seem to do a far better job in this thrilling series. The issue is filled with some great action that has been projected beautifully by the writer. The well crafted airbrush illustrations make it a really dramatic issue filled with some swirling action. Readers may have some complaints about the choice of the colors but they do manage to make the story look lively.

The issue has some strong narration from Phil Hester which has been matched really well by Lilly. The story has an old fashioned feel to it which might appeal to the readers. It would bring out the sentiments in readers who would agree that today’s comics are no match for what one used to read in the old days. Black Terror Vol.9 is a traditional story which would certainly entertain its readers a great deal.

It is a typical story of a villain who feigns to be someone else and has a hero who is trying to set things right. You may have come across a number of similar stories. Overall, the publication from the Dynamite Entertainment is a good one and the presence of the huge flying pirate ship towards the end of the story would keep the readers excited about the next issue. If you have a liking for traditional comics, shedding $3.50 for this issue should not be a difficult decision for you to make.

The Bart Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror Vol.15, released by Bongo Comics is undoubtedly the best comics to have been issued this week. Based on the annual Halloween theme, the issue has Kramers Ergot as the guest editor. Similar to the annual television episode, the issue includes stories that are full of horror and parody and the readers are definitely going to find it very amusing. The stories are mostly normal Simpsons fare apart from some of them being fantasies.

The Three Little Pigs is a hilarious story where you find Moe building a woman for him and Milhouse goes on a killing spree. This is just a taste of what is in store for the readers. Tim Hensley’s The Simpsons gets the issue moving and happens to be the first story in this issue. The hilarious story is about how the characters reach a horrible conclusion by brooding over the same thing over and over again. The following story which is a combined work of Matthew Thurber and Kevin Huizenga is a fantasy which describes a world where occurs a total societal collapse due to the economic hardships that have plagued the world recently.

The artwork in this story is simply amazing with kids looking a little older than they actually are. Going beyond the economy jokes, the story adds plenty of laughs by scripting a strange plant invasion plot. The best part of the issue is the story of Ben Jones which is titled as Boo-tleg. It is about Apu and Sanjay who apparently kill everyone in Springfield with poisonous candy. Overall, the issue with its humorous stories is sure a must read for the readers.

Unlike the previous edition, Dead of Night series doesn’t show Devil Slayer in the ugly costumes and marvel weapons this time. The makers have tried to give a new feel to the character by omitting his trademark sword, taking out the hideous blue costume and funny headgear from the visuals and pulling out the cape as well from the picture. Devil-Slayer #1 is about the current position of Iraq with a supernatural flavor to it. The story has fewer captions to support and it is basically unfurl with interesting dialogues and visuals. Though, the characters are the same antiquated war story typecasts. The marvelous artwork could make the story work. Fine use of lights and shadows and emphasis on detailing has added an artistic touch to this horror comic.
