Batman Confidential Vol43

Batman Confidential is quite similar to Spider Man-Fever, where a distinctive artist does a distinctive take on two corporate characters. Sam Kieth’s portrayal of Batman and Gordon is quite interesting and they barely look or act like the characters that we have seen in other issues. But the fact that it isn’t a continuity series, it doesn’t really matter if the characters are different as this a unique portrayal of Gotham city by Sam Keith.

Batman Streets of Gotham Vol12 Recently the Batman series’ latest issue “Streets of Gotham” Volume 12 has had a lot of issues. But, in spite of these off the scene issues the latest from the Batman series is fairly entertaining. Dini, Fridolfs and Nguyen succeed in giving us a great experience, thanks largely to Carpenter. The carpenter portrays a villain and is perfect for exploration and that is what they have given as she gets solo and inks a deal with a new client.

Batman Vol690

This issue of the Batman would probably see Judd Winick conclude his run as a writer as he is going to be replaced by Tony Daniel who will replace him as the writer from the next issue. Winick’s brought back Jason Todd and although he had a brief run to the title, he made it very clear how good he is at writing Dick Grayson. Winick depicted Grayson-as-Batman to be a person with a mix of confidence with a bit of wonder.

Blackest Night

The Blackest Night: Batman Vol.2 lives up to the reputation of the entertaining miniseries written by the talented Peter Tomasi. The second issue of the series uses the same formula of “superheroes vs. zombie” which was present in the debut edition.

The comic book has all the action ingredients from Commissioner Gordon Shooting off the head of a zombie to Batman and Robin taking blowtorches to the army of their undead rouges. Tomasi has done a wonderful job with the pattern and development of the plot which would not have been possible with any other writer. However, the major drawback of the story is predictability. Tomasi has created a fun environment in the book by combining Batsman’s world with those of the zombies. This makes the readers overlook the predictability of the story.

batman687 The 687 issue of Batman answers all the questions that you might have had at the end of Battle for the Cowl. Although the issues lacks continuity but the way Dick Grayson has been handled really stands out in this issue.

The issue starts with a great flashback. Robin sets up a trap for Batman and Alfred in the batcave and manages to surprise them. The entire scene is depicted beautifully and gives us the taste of their timeless duo. Coming back to the present time, Alfred is seen mourning the loss of Bruce. Till this time it appears that Dick is still not prepared to take up the duties of being Batman. Continue reading Batman Vol 687

Oddly enough, I thought Roy Thomas was dead. The writing and artwork for this series is excellent. I loved the 5 issues -- and thought that the cover for #3 was among the year's best comic covers. But it's unlikely this series will stand the test of time. If it
