The 687 issue of Batman answers all the questions that you might have had at the end of Battle for the Cowl. Although the issues lacks continuity but the way Dick Grayson has been handled really stands out in this issue.
The issue starts with a great flashback. Robin sets up a trap for Batman and Alfred in the batcave and manages to surprise them. The entire scene is depicted beautifully and gives us the taste of their timeless duo. Coming back to the present time, Alfred is seen mourning the loss of Bruce. Till this time it appears that Dick is still not prepared to take up the duties of being Batman. The cape and cowl which belong to Bruce are returned by wonder Woman and superman it was what Bruce wore at the time he died. The issue ends up with Damian being accepted by Alfred and Dick realizing that Batman has to change and continue. It also describes the reason which makes Dick take up the responsibility of Batman.
There are some holes in the issue though as Tim does not get a look in this issue and also there is no reaction from anyone when Damian appears as Robin. Continuity is another area of concern. The artwork is overall dark and serious as the issue involves a lot of crying and mourning. However the issue exceeds the expectations of the readers. The major highlight of this issue is the interaction between Batman and Robin in the opening flashback and priced at $4 it makes a good reading.
