The cover of the Justice Society of America Vol. 29 looks very promising. But besides being promising it also acquaints the readers with a new group of writers, namely Willingham and Sturges and a new artist as Jesus Merino.
In this issue, you see that new Mr. America and few new characters of Justice Society come to Brownstone and at the same something is going wrong with Obsidian. You can also find out that the lame villain Tapeworm threatens to kill some hostages if Wildcat does not come to fight with him. But all this is actually a plot to destroy the peace of Justice Society of America.
The amazing part of this issue is that the new group of writers is very successful at their task of introducing new characters. The entry of these new characters does not make you feel that the story is missing something. Each and every character has a very distinguished personality which makes the issue more readable. Therefore, you can say that Willingham and Sturges have indeed done a great work. But somewhere even though the characters are well organized, you feel the sensation of the story being forced.
The bottom line is if anyone thought of not reading this issue because the original writers Geoff Johns’ left, then it would be sad for them. One might feel disappointed about their departure but the new writers are not bad either. The new writers who are also the writers of Fables or House of Mystery, very successfully handled this issue. They have done justice to Justice Society of America Vol. 29.
